new poem/please let me know what you think

Sleeping Angel

She lies asleep on our worn striped sofa
Little knees pulled up to her chin
Trying to keep warm
In this winter that will not end

Her breaths are soft as angel wings
Coming sweetly at regular intervals
Like an ancient, soul-known song
The center to which the heart pulls

My child, my life
Lying asleep in innocent dreams
I say a silent prayer for her
And send it out on the sliver-moon's beams
